The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event finally unveiled the newest Galaxy devices today, July 26 in Seoul, South Korea. The event kicked off with 17 “Join the flip side” digital advertisements on display in 13 different countries to tease the new slate of Galaxy devices coming. The highly-anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 smartphones are finally available for pre-order (along with two more new Samsung devices) and we've got the inside scoop on how to score the best Samsung deals.
Pre-order the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5The new Samsung Galaxy devices include the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 smartphones, the Galaxy Tab S9 and the Galaxy Watch 6. You can pre-order these snazzy devices today and save up to $1,000 in enhanced trade-in value. You can also get up to 15% off if you're an eligible student. If you pre-order today, the Samsung launches are expected to be delivered by Friday, August 11.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 smartphone
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5Get up to $1,000 in trade-in value, free storage upgrade, $150 off 1TB memory device and a 15% student discount. Pre-order starting at $1,799.99The Galaxy Z Fold 5 offers some incremental improvements over the Fold 4. A lighter device than its predecessors, the Fold 5’s new hinge design now allows it to open flat and removes the small gap where dirt and debris could get into on previous Fold models. While it’s still bulky when folded up, it is slightly thinner than the Fold 4. What’s more, its display brightness has been increased to 1,750 nits peak. The Snapdragon Gen2 chip should provide a solid performance boost allowing apps and multitasking to run smoother.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 smartphone
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5Get up to $900 in trade-in value, free storage upgrade and a 10% student discount. Pre-order starting at $999.99The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series smartphones have always folded in half, like an old-school flip phone when closed. But they’ve never opened up completely flat—until now. This update brings the device closer to feeling like a Galaxy S23. The biggest screen improvement, though, is the external 3.4-inch display. It’s bigger than it was on the Flip 4, and there’s far more functionality while keeping the phone closed. There’s now a full virtual keyboard for replying to messages and the ability to run Android apps on its exterior display.
The Flip 5 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chip that debuted in the Galaxy S23 series (and is also found in the new Fold 5 announced at Unpacked). The screen is also much brighter than the Flip 4 (Samsung lists outdoor peak for the Flip 5 at 1,600 nits), which makes using the phone in the sunlight easier. Add in double the storage from the Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 promises to be a significant improvement over its predecessors.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 6
Samsung Galaxy Watch 6Get a free Fabric Band and up to $250 in trade-in value. Pre-order starting at $379.99Let’s get this out of the way: The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is bringing the Bezel back! This is great news, as the smartwatch’s bezel wasn’t just a feature that set the Galaxy Watch apart from its competition. It was also an integral part of how to navigate the device that many users absolutely loved. The Classic comes in 43mm and 47mm lug sizes, which may be less than ideal for smaller wrists.
For those whose skinny arms would make wearing the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic look like the Horological version of a toddler tromping around in an adult pair of shoes, there’s the Galaxy Watch 6. It runs a little bit smaller than the Classic; you can find it in 40mm and 44mm lugs.
No matter which smartwatch you opt for, it’ll come packing a sapphire crystal face to help prevent scratches and a lightweight aluminum body. As usual, Samsung’s wrist candy comes with a number of tricks baked into them: heart rate monitoring, emergency SOS calling and sleep tracking.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S9
Samsung Galaxy Tab S9Get up to $650 instant trade-in credit and 50% off a select keyboard cover. Pre-order starting at $1,149.99Samsung doesn’t make drastic changes to its Galaxy Tab lineup, from year-to-year. Instead, just like Apple, they prefer to work towards perfection of their tablets in baby steps. That said, no matter whether you’ve been considering an upgrade for a few hardware generations or want to buy your first Samsung Galaxy Tab, this is a great year to do so.
All three of the tablets in the Galaxy Tab S9 family—Galaxy Tab S9, Tab S9 Plus, and Tab S9 Ultra (with screen sizes of 14.6, 12.4 and 11-inches, respectively)—will come packing OLED displays. This means long battery life, vibrant colors and deep, rich black tones, no matter whether you’re working on a document, streaming a movie or playing a mobile game like Diablo Immortal. Along with this, each will have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip under the hood, so any task you throw at your Galaxy Tab S9 will be sorted out in no time at all. Finally, and this is a big one, each of the tablets in the Tab S9 lineup come with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. This makes sure that your investment will be well protected from the elements (and your coffee) no matter where you choose to use it.
Samsung Galaxy devices are among the best android smartphones we've tested, so we can't wait to get our hands on the new options. And when you bundle the Fold or Flip 5 with select Samsung products, you'll unlock even deeper discounts.
